Weingut Weinrieder is a renowned family winery based in Kleinhadersdorf, at the center of Austria’s Weinviertel region. Founded in 1928, the estate is now managed by Friedrich Rieder and his son Lukas, representing the latest generation of a family deeply committed to quality and innovation. The estate covers 20 hectares of south and southwest-facing vineyards, situated on prime sites such as Birthal, Kugler, Schneiderberg, Hohenleiten, and Bockgärten. These sites are known for their loess and loam soils, which impart distinctive minerality and the region’s signature peppery spice to the wines.
Weinrieder specializes in white varieties, primarily Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, as well as Chardonnay and Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc). The estate is particularly celebrated for its expressive single-vineyard wines and outstanding sweet wines, including Eiswein. Vineyard work is meticulous, with a focus on green harvesting, yield control, and careful handpicking to ensure optimal fruit concentration and quality.
In the cellar, the philosophy is minimal intervention: long, cool fermentations in stainless steel tanks, extended lees contact, and a focus on preserving vintage character. The result is a range of vibrant, terroir-driven wines with clarity, freshness, and aging potential. Weinrieder’s commitment to excellence has earned numerous national and international awards, and their wines are featured in top restaurants worldwide. With a production of around 40,000 bottles annually, Weinrieder stands as a benchmark for quality, innovation, and authentic expression of the Weinviertel’s unique terroir.
