Champagne Gounel Lassalle is a family estate rooted in the Premier Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims, notably Chigny les Roses, Ludes, Rilly la Montagne, and more recently Barzy sur Marne. The domaine is managed by Arnaud Gounel and Sophie Lassalle, who together embody the spirit of independence and adventure while remaining deeply attached to their family heritage and terroir.
The story of Gounel Lassalle is one of emancipation and passion. Arnaud, raised among the vines, developed a love for travel and discovery, exploring winemaking techniques around the world before returning to his roots. In 2002, he and Sophie officially took over the family estate, marking the beginning of a new chapter. For more than 20 years, the family delivered their grapes to the cooperative, but in 2018, Arnaud and Sophie made the bold choice to become Récoltant Manipulant, vinifying their own Champagnes and building their unique identity under the motto “Wine Rider: transcender ses racines.”
The estate’s 5 hectares are spread across 29 parcels, each with its own history and character, many cultivated by the family for generations. The vineyards are worked with a deep respect for the environment: since 2007, the vines have been grassed and treated without insecticides, and the estate is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) and Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC). Today, Gounel Lassalle is committed to organic conversion, reflecting a continuous quest for sustainable excellence.
In the cellar, Arnaud crafts a range of Champagnes that are predominantly parcel selections, vinified with precision and minimal intervention. The wines are aged in a combination of foudres and oak barrels, with a focus on non-dosage to preserve purity and terroir expression. The result is a collection of Champagnes that are fresh, authentic, and expressive, each reflecting the unique identity of its origin.
The estate also produces a Ratafia Champenois, aged in oak, as a tribute to tradition and regional identity.
With a potential production of 50,000 bottles, Champagne Gounel Lassalle stands for freedom, authenticity, and a profound connection to the land. Every bottle is a journey, a reflection of family, terroir, and the joy of discover.
