Elia Palazzesi is a fourth generation winemaker at the Collelceto estate, located in the wild, forested southwest of Montalcino. The estate spans 8 hectares of vineyards, planted on gentle slopes between 130 and 180 meters above sea level, with soils rich in clay, sand, and pebbles that provide excellent drainage. Elia is the first in his family to produce wine for commercial sale, transforming what was once a livestock and cereal farm into a respected source of organically certified Brunello di Montalcino.

All vineyard work is managed by hand, with Elia personally overseeing careful canopy management and thinning to protect the grapes from intense sunlight and coastal winds. The estate is certified organic since 2011, reflecting a deep commitment to sustainable viticulture and respect for the land.

Elia Palazzesi’s wines are celebrated for their depth, concentration, and aging potential. The Brunello di Montalcino is fermented in stainless steel, then aged in a combination of large and small oak barrels, with extended aging beyond the appellation’s requirements. The resulting wines are full bodied, spicy, and elegant, with classic Sangiovese aromas of tobacco, lavender, and dark fruit, supported by a firm structure and long finish.

The estate remains a true family affair, with Elia, his wife, daughter, and niece all playing active roles in the winery’s daily life and future. Every bottle from Elia Palazzesi is a reflection of dedication, tradition, and a profound connection to the land of Montalcino.
