Château de Fleys is a historic, family-owned estate located in the village of Fleys, just 4.5 kilometers east of Chablis, on the right bank of the Serein river. The domaine’s roots trace back to the late 19th century, when Julien Philippon, originally from Vézelay, settled in the region and acquired woodland, farmland, and vineyards that still form the core of the estate today. Since then, the property has been passed down through generations, with Béatrice, Benoît, and Olivier Philippon now at the helm, blending tradition with modern innovation.

Covering around 30 hectares, Château de Fleys is planted mainly to Chardonnay, the emblematic grape of Chablis. The estate includes Chablis AOC vineyards, such as the Clos du Château, and two prestigious Chablis Premier Cru sites: Mont de Milieu and Les Fourneaux, both on the right bank of the Serein. The soils are predominantly Kimmeridgian limestone, imparting the signature minerality and finesse for which Chablis is renowned.

Vineyard management at Château de Fleys follows High Environmental Value (HVE) principles, with a strong respect for nature and biodiversity. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in a modern winery built in 2006, where different vinification methods are tailored to each wine’s character. The range includes classic Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru Mont de Milieu and Les Fourneaux, and the distinctive Clos du Château.

Visitors are welcomed at the estate’s tasting room, where the Philippon family shares their passion for Chablis and their commitment to expressing the unique terroirs of their historic domaine.
