Champagne Bérêche et Fils is a renowned, family-owned estate based in Ludes at the heart of Montagne de Reims, Champagne. Established in 1847, the domaine has flourished through five generations and is today led by visionary brothers Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche. Widely regarded as two of the most talented and innovative vignerons in Champagne, they have infused the estate with renewed energy by combining deep respect for tradition with a commitment to natural viticulture.
The domaine farms 11.5 hectares spread over 21 distinct plots, including Premier Cru vineyards in Ludes and Ormes, prized sites in Trépail, Mareuil-le-Port, Rilly-la-Montagne, and a Grand Cru parcel acquired in Mailly in 2012, alongside small plots in the Vallée de la Marne. Vineyards are planted to roughly equal proportions of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, emphasizing terroir diversity through meticulous parcel-by-parcel vinification.
Since 2003, Bérêche et Fils has fully embraced organic and biodynamic principles, eliminating all chemical herbicides and focusing on manual vineyard work and cover crops. In the cellar, Raphaël and Vincent uphold tradition with spontaneous fermentations, aging in neutral French oak, minimal intervention, and bottling under cork for second fermentation, a nod to ancestral Champagne methods. Dosage is carefully adjusted to each cuvée and extended aging sur lattes (2–8 years) imparts profound complexity and texture.
Annual production is modest for Champagne, at around 85,000 bottles, allowing careful attention to every detail. Signature wines include the Brut Réserve, a blend of 35% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 30% Meunier, alongside acclaimed single vineyard and vintage cuvées that showcase the pure character of each site.
Bérêche et Fils stands as a benchmark of grower Champagne, fiercely independent, terroir-driven, and deeply expressive, reflecting five generations of family heritage and craftsmanship in every bottle.
