Batavigna is the personal winemaking project of renowned Italian enologist Barbara Tamburini, whose career spans more than twenty years at the forefront of Tuscan wine. Batavigna is rooted in Barbara’s deep dedication to the craft, reflected in her decision to embrace the wine sector in all its dimensions, vineyard, cellar, blending, and unceasing innovation.
At the heart of Batavigna is MITICAIA, a wine that embodies Barbara’s quest for excellence and originality. With full responsibility for vineyard selection, grape growing, and vinification, Barbara has built MITICAIA from the ground up: choosing only the best parcels in Tuscany, meticulously monitoring cultivation and ripening, and ensuring that each element and vintage is honored. Her hands-on approach includes personal oversight of every stage, from harvesting to blending, making Batavigna a true reflection of her skill and spirit.
MITICAIA matures in French oak barriques for a period adapted to each vintage, between 12 and 18 months. During this crucial aging, Barbara follows the evolution of the wine with great attention, selecting the best barrels to create the final assemblage, always striving for the highest possible quality and expression that the year can provide.
Batavigna’s philosophy is built on minimum intervention and maximum care, aiming to capture the authentic voice of each vineyard and vintage. The result is MITICAIA: a wine of rare elegance and complexity, representing Barbara Tamburini’s professionalism, experience, and passion for Tuscan terroir. Each bottle is a testament to her unwavering pursuit of excellence and her dedication to advancing the art of winemaking.
