Champagne André Robert is a family estate deeply rooted in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, at the prestigious Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The family’s winemaking tradition spans several generations, beginning with Henri Robert, who started working the vines after the First World War and, in the 1930s, created the first group of vignerons to share pressing and winemaking facilities. His son, André Robert, continued the legacy, working the land with horses and, in 1960, acquiring the family’s historic cellars in chalk where the bottles are still aged today. Commercialization of Champagne under the family name began in 1962.
Today, the estate is managed by Claire Robert and Jean-Baptiste Denizart, who together carry forward the family’s passion for authenticity and excellence. The domaine is spread over 14 hectares, primarily classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru, and includes parcels in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus, Cuis, Étréchy, and Montigny. The majority of the grapes come from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, where the Chardonnay thrives on the pure chalk soils, expressing the unique minerality and finesse for which this terroir is renowned.
Champagne André Robert is committed to sustainable viticulture, holding the Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification. The family practices minimal intervention in the vineyard: light tillage, natural ground cover, low amendments, and careful pest management that meets organic farming criteria. Yields are deliberately kept low to ensure the highest quality grapes.
In the cellar, precision and tradition guide every step. Grapes are harvested at optimal maturity, gently pressed, and vinified in a combination of oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, with each parcel vinified separately to preserve its individual character. The wines are aged on fine lees for several months, with regular bâtonnage to enhance texture and complexity. The use of oak is judicious, bringing depth and richness to the Champagnes while respecting the purity of the terroir.
