Champagne André Heucq is a family estate rooted in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, in the picturesque village of Cuisles. Founded in 1936 by the great-grandfather, the domaine is now managed by André Heucq, who is supported by his children Fanny and Alexandre, representing the fourth generation. The estate spans 6 to 8 hectares of vineyards, depending on the source, with a strong focus on Meunier, the emblematic grape of the region.
Cuisles is renowned for its unique terroir, characterized by a three-layered soil structure: sand, green clay (illite), and calcareous clay. This exceptional geology gives the Champagnes of André Heucq remarkable minerality, structure, and aging potential. The estate stands out for its commitment to environmental stewardship, with organic certification since 2018 and a transition to biodynamic viticulture. The vineyards are worked by hand, with natural grassing and horse plowing to reactivate soil life, and the use of biodynamic preparations such as bouse de corne and silice de corne, applied in harmony with lunar cycles.
In the cellar, André Heucq favors minimal intervention. Vinification takes place in a variety of vessels, including Burgundy barrels (second passage), concrete eggs, and clay amphorae, to achieve wines of purity and terroir expression. Wines are aged on the lees for extended periods, with little to no filtration and minimal use of sulphur, resulting in Champagnes that are intense, precise, and deeply reflective of their origin.
The estate offers several signature ranges:
Champagne André Heucq is also recognized for its sustainable practices, such as rainwater harvesting, natural ventilation, and energy independence. The estate’s philosophy is guided by a deep respect for nature, the rhythms of the earth, and the lunar cycle, aiming to craft Champagnes that are both authentic and exceptional.
