Vignoble Alain Robert is a family estate located in Chançay, at the heart of the Vouvray appellation in the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Established in 1973 by Christiane and Alain Robert, both children of local winegrowers, the domaine began with just two hectares of inherited vines. Over the decades, the estate has expanded to 37 hectares, with vineyards primarily planted to Chenin Blanc on classic clay-limestone and clay-flint soils, spread across Chançay and Noizay.
Since 2014, the estate has been managed by the next generation: Cyril Robert, who joined in 2000 after training in Champagne and Anjou, and his sister Catherine, who brought experience from working with renowned Loire vignerons. Together, they have further developed the estate’s focus on sustainable viticulture. The vineyards are farmed using lutte raisonnée (sustainable practices), with minimal use of phytosanitary products, grass cover between rows, and biotechnical methods such as pheromone confusion to reduce insecticide use. The domaine achieved High Environmental Value (HVE) certification in 2021.
Vignoble Alain Robert produces a full range of Vouvray wines, from dry and semi-dry to sweet and sparkling, showcasing the versatility of Chenin Blanc. Select parcels are harvested by hand, especially for premium cuvées, while others use careful machine harvesting. In the cellar, vinification is precise, using both stainless steel and oak to highlight the purity and character of each wine.
The estate welcomes visitors for guided tours, tastings, and immersive wine experiences in their traditional rock-hewn cellar, offering a warm introduction to the family’s passion and the unique terroir of Vouvray.
